Our Mission...

The goal of the Octorara Soccer Clubs is to provide an opportunity for all interested youth to play soccer in a safe and fun environment while instilling in them the highest standard of sportsmanship, leadership and fair play on and off the field.

Our History

The Octorara Soccer Club (OSC) started off with a single adult team in 1964 founded by Gene Davis that played in the Delco Soccer League. In 1969, that team morphed into multiple teams and a summer league was created by OSC consisting of both adult and high school teams. This league ran until 1997.

Along the way, Gene found time to create OSC’s first intramural program for the ’78-’79 season.  He felt that the High School program needed better support at the youth level and intramural program was the way to go.  After the success of the intramural program, OSC fielded its first travel team in 1983. Unfortunately, it only lasted one season, but the travel team concept wasn’t gone for good. In the Fall of 1991, the travel program came back with a bang as soccer across the country was exploding. The travel program still produces a quality product to this day.  To quantify this explosion the intramural program player participation jumped from 50 players in 1992 to 200+ kids in 1993.

A tribute to Gene’s vision of get’em when they’re young and keep them together came to fruition when the Octorara H.S. Men’s Soccer Team won the Class AA state title for the first time in the schools 49 year history.  The H.S. team is part of the Chesmont League, District One.

Presently OSC is going through another metamorphosis with numerous changes just as the soccer world is changing. One of the changes is the new club website which launched in the fall of 2008 to help bring the club in the 21st Century.  There are many exciting changes planned ahead as well as potentially another surge in participation not seen since 1993.  So don’t sit back and enjoy the ride, help drive us into the future by volunteering and be a part something special!!

OSC is part of EPYSA District 8 and USYSA Region 1.
